Dearest Author, 

Thank you so much for my gift in advance! Please know that I will absolutely adore anything that you gift me and though I am going to provide more likes/dislikes and some general prompts further down, please feel free to combine prompts, or ignore them completely if you get inspired in a different direction! I’m Nemainofthewater on AO3 and most other fandom spaces. 

I am opting in to literally all media and all word counts. Please go wild – I will literally adore anything that you make me. I am also open for treats if anyone feels so inclined!

This letter is a bit different from my usual ones: I will include a list of things I like below and then specify things I like about each of the fandoms I am requesting along with a list of the characters I am asking for. I am hoping to give more freedom so that it’s easier to create whatever you want. If you want specific prompts, I have asked for many of these fandoms for previous exchanges and would love anything from there! 

Things I like: 

-Found family! I really love team-as-family, slice of life type stories where everything may be difficult (or not!) but at least they have each other

-I love angst. Please put my blorbos through The Horrors ™  . I would prefer to have a glimmer of hope at the end, but honestly I am also very happy for all knives all the time so long as appropriately tagged 

-Adventures: I love case fics or adventures where the characters work together to solve a problem. It doesn’t have to be anything important! Problem solving is wonderful at all levels, whether it’s something large like overtaking an empire or small like hunting for the perfect cake. Bonus for characters displaying unexpected knowledge/skills, or just being good at their jobs and their team appreciating that

-some canon divergence AUs or role reversal (although on the whole I am not a fan of college/high school AUs). I really like time travel and time loops as well as ‘for want of a nail’ type stories. Modern day AUs are a little hit or miss for me; sometimes I love them and sometimes it really takes me out of the story? I am fond of the type of modern day AUs that preserve the fantastical elements (ie, cultivation in the modern world type thing!)

-characters who don’t take care of themselves being gently bullied into sleeping/eating/resting, or just generally just looking after themselves. I am a huge fan of the ‘perfect mask much work until I collapse’ type character, especially when there are others around to take care oof them before/when they eventually collapse. 

-food or creating things as a love language (platonic or romantic)

-OT3s to solve love triangles 

-people appreciating other people’s competencies! 

-multimedia! (meta, articles, etc). Outsider POV is also something that I love and if you feel intrigued by adding that and/or any multimedia bits please indulge yourself! 

-identity porn

-wingfic, especially wingfic that looks at the practical things associated with wings/the (pseudo)biology/the social implications… 

-survival stories? I don’t know how to characterise this. Kind of the ‘trapped on a desert island’ kind of thing where everyone has to work together and bring out their various specialities and intelligence to build a home. The kind of domestic slice of life type thing only with having to literally establish their own settlement type thing

DNWs: high school/college AUs, characters watching the show/read the book they’re from, PWP, sibling (biological or otherwise) incest, underage, character bashing (out of universe: it doesn’t count if characters don’t like each other in canon, for example), racism, sexism, homophobia, aphobia, transphobia

Above all, please create whatever pleases you and whatever you have fun making; I promise that I will love whatever I get! 

I am very happy to have any other characters that you want to add into the story unless I’ve written out a fandom specific DNW about it. 

Howl's Moving Castle - Diana Wynne Jones – WB: Any, Solo: Howl, Howl & Calcifer, Sophie & Calcifer, Howl/Sophie

This was one of my favourite books as a child and I still love it now. I think the worldbuilding is very clever and that it gives people a lot of scope for playing with, deconstructing, and exploring fairytale tropes. Ingary is one of my favourite fantasy lands; I love thinking about exploring what goes into being a professional wizard. 

As a PhD student myself, there is something very comforting about the thought of running off from my degree and becoming a wizard. 

I also love Wales and exploration of Welsh culture, as well as cultural differences that might crop up between people from the ‘real world’ and Ingary.

Once again I love the worldbuilding in this universe. I also enjoy thinking about an alternate universe where all cops are not bastards (somehow less believable than the fantasy elements…)

I love the amount of love in this series, but also the amount of random knowledge that is scattered through the narrative as well as clever urban fantasy elements. I love the idea of London as a character. 

This would be a lovely fandom for someone to geek out about their interests! Please go wild, I will love it all.

That was a lot of relationships to write out hahaha. Please take it as read that all of the other worldbuilding prompts (for the peaks etc) are things I would be delighted to receive, I just ran out of room. 

I love this book because it is so dark and messed up but because SY is not the best at genre awareness and also repressing the hell out of literally everything, it’s a comedy. The repercussions of this being a trashy harem drama are fascinating, as is the idea that actually it wasn’t and there are so many more things going on beneath the surface. 

Also the idea that Airplane was choosing a random Wikipedia page until he could find two vaguely plausible animals to smoosh together is very amusing.

For space reasons I had to take out the rest of the worldbuilding tags – please rest assured that I would love any of them. 

I love many things about AtLA. The Gaang is great and so are all of the side characters. The fact that they become a family – with all the interplay of character similarities and tensions – is wonderful to me because it makes them feel like real people.

I also love the worldbuilding (I feel like I’m saying this for every prompt) and the influence of cultures that went into each of the designs of the nations. I also love the things that are uniquely avatar.

The worldbuilding in this is very blurry and I have no memory of some parts of the plot. I just love the found family vibes, the tragedy, the fights in the rain, the magnificent costumes, and the tragedy of one’s revenge vs love.

The worldbuilding! I’m sure you guys know the drill by now. I also ran out of space, so please take all of the WB tags as read as something I would be interested in. 

Something I adore about this series is the thought of what other people thing about SW/ZYL or the rest of the SID, and especially the students of Dragon University. I am also very interested in the different tensions and alliances between the Yashou, the Dixingren, and the Haixingren.

So confession I forgot to nominate any of the canon relationships. I was too caught up in the idea of “arranged marriage AUs” to remember that I also love the canon. In all honesty though, I love all of the and I don’t not ship any of them in any configuration. I also love gen interactions between all of them. I have literally just finished this series and I am starved for anything.

Another one that took me far too long to decide which 20 relationships I was going to ask for. I love the complicated relationships between and within each Sect as well as the worldbuilding and politics that underlie the cultivation world. The relationships I have requestion take into account three difference generations of the cultivation world and it is fascinating looking at the differences between all of them. I have a special weakness for pre-canon (parent’s generation) or post canon. 

 

七爷 | Qi Ye – priest – WB: Any, Jing Beiyuan/Helian Yi, Jing Beiyuan/Wu Xi, Jing Beiyuan & Zhou Zishu

I am fascinated by these men, who are willing to do anything – including objectively horrible acts – in order to build a better future. I am also fascinated at the tension and interplay between the intense trust and the knowledge that one day they might have me killed by their friends.
